Introducing Lyrak: A Photo-Sharing Social Platform
As social media platforms increasingly focus on short-form videos, there is a growing need for a new platform dedicated specifically to photographers and those passionate about photography. Most apps don't make photographers a priority anymore. So, we are building a photo-sharing app that gives photographers a place to share their work and connect with other photography enthusiasts.
Building just another regular photo app like the ones that already exist won't be good enough in 2024. To truly stand out, we need to provide unique experiences that are currently unavailable on other platforms. By offering these new features, photography enthusiasts can expand their creative reach, build meaningful connections with like-minded people, and showcase their work to a broader audience.
Welcome to Lyrak, a photo-sharing app that helps you reach a wider audience and earn a regular income from your content.
Our goal is to bring back the joy of discovering and sharing life's moments, with a focus on stunning visuals. Through the lens of photography, we inspire creatives to share their unique perspectives, and build a community that celebrates the art of visual storytelling.
Why build Lyrak?
Lyrak was created because we were frustrated with the ongoing problems in current social networks.
By prioritizing short-form content above all else, social media platforms are forcing photographers to adapt to becoming videographers in order to remain relevant. As a result, our feeds are now flooded with mediocre videos, which are unfortunately overshadowing the more carefully crafted photography that once dominated the space. It's sad to see photographers sacrificing their unique voice and vision just to keep up with the algorithm's demands.
The internet's most influential platforms are built on the backs of their users, yet they fail to return the favor. We create the content, devote our attention, and tolerate ads, but the profits flow predominantly to the platforms themselves. A viral post that gets millions of views might make you famous for a short time, but you won't get any money from it.
Brand deals are one of the primary methods for creators to earn a regular income, yet platforms have consistently failed to support and develop tools to make it easier. Moreover, creators face difficulties such as negotiation challenges, finding the right partnerships, unclear payment terms, legal issues, and a lack of sufficient learning resources in brand deals. This lack of platform support makes it tough for creators to establish a stable income from these platforms.
Users tend to form a connection with the accounts that they frequently see in their feed. Platforms often prioritize promoting aggregated accounts, and individuals who plagiarize content, rather than original creators. This hurts the reach and engagement of the creators. As a result, people often develop bonds with these accounts rather than with the creators who originated the content.
Social networks depend on creators to grow their user base, but they aren't offering effective ways for creators to earn a stable income from their content; additionally, they've made it considerably more challenging for creators to reach their entire audience.
Social media platforms are developing their own AI systems, which are being trained using content created by original creators. Eventually, these platforms will replace authentic content creators with AI-generated content, allowing the platforms to keep all the revenue for themselves without having to share it with the original creators. By exploiting the hard work and creativity of content creators to train their AI systems, these platforms are leading to a future where creators are replaced by the very technology they unknowingly helped develop.
Lyrak is our response to these problems. We believe in the power of photography to connect people and tell compelling stories. We are building Lyrak to be the premiere destination for photographers and everyone who loves the art of photography.
Monetization
The digital landscape is built on your talent and contributions as photographers, artists, and creators. You pour your heart, soul, and expertise into crafting unique and valuable content. You are the driving force behind the internet's creativity and innovation. Yet, all too often, your hard work and dedication go unrecognized and unrewarded. That’s why we are dedicated to empowering creative minds like yours, ensuring you receive the fair compensation and recognition you deserve for your time, effort, creativity, and expertise.
Our platform currently offers paid posts and tips. Additionally, we're planning to release the following monetization features to support photographers:
Subscriptions: Get monthly support from your biggest fans
Freelance work: Offer your audience an opportunity to bring you on board for professional projects.
Bookings: Provide services such as portfolio reviews where your audience can purchase them within the app.
Digital products: Sell products such as presets where your audience can purchase them within the app.
Print-on-demand: You sell the artwork within the app, and when a customer purchases it, we print your artwork and deliver it to your customer for you.
Sell prints: You sell the artwork within the app, and when a customer purchases it, you print the artwork and deliver it to your customer.
Revenue share
We believe in fair compensation for our creators. When you post original content on our platform, you receive 50% of the ad revenue generated from the ads displayed on your newsfeed and replies page. It's our way of ensuring that your efforts are duly rewarded. You don't need to do anything extra to start receiving your share of the revenue. Just create your best content, and we'll take care of the rest.
Reputation
Your reputation reflects the value you bring to the Lyrak community, primarily through valuable replies, reposts, likes, and inviting others to join the platform. Earning a good reputation is easier for early adopters. However, as more people join the platform, it becomes harder to build your reputation. If your posts are removed or you violate our guidelines, your reputation might go down. Having a negative reputation could limit some app activities until you improve it.
More control
We're building more tools to help you personalize your experience on Lyrak. Soon, you'll be able to create custom feeds based on your interests, hashtags, or the creators you want to follow. You'll be able to fine-tune these feeds using different settings like post type, location, interests, hashtags, favorite creators, and more.
You can also create mute lists and block lists, giving you even more control over what you see and who you connect with on the platform.
Don’t let them take you for granted
Simply connecting people isn't enough in 2024, as many apps accomplish this well. You should be rewarded for the time you spend on any app, but these social apps withhold your share of the earnings, assuming you have no other options but to stay with them.
However, at the very least, you should have an alternative. It's wise to maintain your audience across multiple platforms, especially considering that this is your livelihood. You might want to focus on a platform designed to prioritize rewarding creators and content providers fairly.
Just Getting Started
Lyrak is a fresh start – we're just getting started on something exciting. We have a clear vision of who we want to be and how we aim to uplift the lives of both users and creators who believe in our mission.
Our ambitions go beyond creating another typical social platform; this marks the beginning of a journey that will transform people's lives. We'd be thrilled if you joined us on this journey, where your contributions could truly shape how we build and manage Lyrak.
